Starting Sunday, August 21st, our Children's Sunday School will be moved to 10am, in alignment with Adult Sunday School. This will give children a full hour of learning and will allow adults with children to attend a class. Children first grade and older will sit in the service with parents at 9am and 11am and will be provided with a Children's bulletin, a "Worship Bag," and many opportunities to participate in worship. We can't wait to dig deeper and have our children become "Rooted" in their relationship with Jesus Christ.
Over the past year, parents have expressed their interest in getting plugged into Adult Sunday School, but many have been unable to do so as their children did not have a place to go during the 10am hour. Historically, the church has tried offering Sunday School at both the 9am & 11am hours, which resulted in very low attendance for both. As of right now, children are attending Sunday School at 11am after Children's Message in worship. This leaves a very short window of time for them to get into the Word of God during Sunday School (about 10-15 minutes). The 10am Commission, led by Farah Armstrong, was formed in early 2016 as a team that would address the need for Children's Sunday School at 10am and create a vision to carry out the plan successfully. The commission started with a simple idea: Rooted. The idea of being rooted means that we have a thorough knowledge of God and His Word. When the storms hit, a tree will not be shaken because its roots have grown deep. We want their knowledge of God's Word to be so deep that no matter what storms they face in life, they will not be shaken from the faith they have established.
