OUR Staff

  • Dean Pogue - Pastor

With a love of dogs (Golden Retrievers), fishing (all kinds!), sports (Texas high school football), music (Lyle Lovett to Aaron Copland to Jimi Hendrix) and cooking (Southern\Cajun), Dean is humbled and privileged to serve as Pastor and Head of Staff at this rapidly growing church.  A native of Birmingham, Alabama, who grew up in Houston (Memorial High School, ’73), Dean and his wife, Tricia (Westchester High,’78), are passionate about Katy and its community.  Dean’s academic training includes a BSc., geology, from SMU; an MBA (corporate finance) from University of Dallas; and a M.Div. from Austin Presbyterian Seminary.  If you’re running errands and see him and his 1949 GMC pickup, please stop and say “Hello!”  There’s always time for conversation or a cup of coffee!

  • Missy Chapman - Director of children's ministry

A native of the Katy area, Missy grew up in Cinco Ranch and graduated from Seven Lakes High School. Missy is a proud alumnus of The University of Alabama (Roll Tide!) where she received her Undergraduate Degree in Youth and Adolescent Development and a Master’s Degree in Child Development. She is excited about this opportunity God has given her to serve GLPC, and honored to serve the parents and children of our congregation.

  • Kim welsh - office managEr

Kim loves spending time with her family – her and her husband are blessed with two children, they are the sunshine of her life and her main focus.  However, in the rare moments when she is alone (or even when she isn’t and just tries to tune out the chaos that lives at her house), Kim likes to read or watch movies.  She has seen her favorite movie, Princess Bride, at least 50 times and can practically quote it.  She and her daughter have even attended “quote along” showings at movie theaters.  An avid reader, Kim has a hard time choosing her favorite book; however, she is very glad that she was around for the original runs of the Harry Potter books.  She was one of the crazies in line at midnight when each new Harry Potter book was released -- and then she would hole herself up in a room and read it in one sitting with strict instructions to leave her alone.

It has been a long and winding road that led her to Grand Lakes, but Kim is happy to be a part of the people she now considers her new family.  Deep down, she is just an ordinary girl who has a deep love for God and her family.  Her purpose?  To help out.  And whether that’s at home, in the Katy community where she’s lived the past 7 years, or here at Grand Lakes Presbyterian, she’s happy to be of service….just don’t judge too harshly if it comes out in song.
